La Discarga

Located in the heart of Hollywood, this modern day speak easy is the type of establishment that takes you back in time, making you feel like you’re living in the 1950′s. The themed bar, La Discarga is modeled after one that existed decades ago in Little Havana. Serving numerous specialty rums neat, on the rocks, or in one of their creative cocktails, there is no big sign for this bar.

All there is to indicate its existence from the street is a small lit sign that says La Discarga, which hangs above a closed red door. When you arrive at the red door, you knock. The hostess and bouncers will open the door for you and ask if you made a reservation (reservations are encouraged – make them here). Once they usher you in, the hostest will open a wardrobe door and push the hanging jackets to the side. It becomes extremely obvious that this is the enterance to the bar.

Once seated, you are offered drinks, small plates of food, and an option to see the cigar menu. We strongly recommend you choose a cigar for the eventing. They range in price from $25 to $55 and are extremely fitting with both the drinks served and the interior. This is definitely a place you will want to check out soon! Now make yourself a reservation, and bring some Boom Boom along to keep you alive in this old-school environment.

That’s right, the MTV Video Music Awards are here once again and are sure to cause a stir. This year the nominations for the VMAs are all over the board, and mostly spot on. And if that’s not enough for you, Lady Gaga is even up against herself in several categories. Regaurdless of how many awards Gaga may win, be sure to tune to just see what shes wearing! It’s almost gauranteed that Gaga will show up in something that will absolutely blow your mind. Now its your turn to get involved in the process. What Can Aroma Therapy Do For You?

An ancient form of alternative medicine, aroma therapy uses plant materials known as essential oils and other aromatic compounds to alter one’s mood, cognitive function, or overall health. While the history of aroma therapy is rooted in ancient civilizations across Asia, its uses are still relevant in the present.

Aromatherapy is the treatment or prevention of disease by use of essential oils. In the case of Boom Boom, eucalyptus and peppermint. There are two basic functions of these oils on the body. One is the influence of aroma on the brain, meaning your basic emotions and drives. The other is the direct pharmacological effects of the oils. These work together to promote good health.

And good health is exactly what Boom Boom aims for. Delivering you several essential oils in every huff of a stick, the health benefits seems to be unknown to most Americans. The nasal cavity seems to be ignored by most, but with the use of Boom Boom, nasal healthy becomes clearly obvious. Opening the passage and cleaning it at the same time, the essential oils delivered to a Boom user awakens the mind and freshens breath. The positive effects are numerous but can only be possessed if you try the product! I guarantee your going to like the way it feels.

What’s All the Fuss For?

Today marks day three of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, and I can honestly say that the content has been anything but impressive. I’m not sure if it’s because Shark attacks are so rare or because they ran out of material since last years Shark Week, but as of right now all I can say is BORING.

Yes, everyone you know seems to be changing their Facebook or twitter status talking about Shark Week, but could this just be another ploy to fit in with the great society? I know that I personaly have had several conversations about Shark Week leading up to the event claiming to be “excited” and “so ready for it to return,” but it wasn’t until just yesterday that I realized I wasn’t excited at all.

Maybe if they had a few programs dedicated to specific sharks like the show Planet Earth, but right now, Discovery is struggling. Perhaps the content will pick up as the week goes on, but for the time being we at Boom Boom send a message to all of you Shark Week fans that are secretly on the fence. IF SHARK WEEK ISN’T THAT SWEET, DON’T WATCH IT!

Movie For Schmucks

Despite the hilarious trailer, star studded cast, and original plot, the movie Dinner For Schmucks is anything but a must-see. Seeming to constantly drag-on, some scenes were actually painful to watch. Perhaps this was the fault of the usually quality actor Paul Rudd, who’s love stricken character constantly seemed to make the audience feel awkward and uneasy.

Or maybe it was the fault of Steve Carrell, who’s preformance as the starring schmuck was so on-point that it actually annoyed the audience to watch him in some scenes. Whatever the reason was, this movie is a waist of your time.

And if these two weren’t reason enough to see the film, the length of it will definitley change your mind. Lasting just under two hours, standing up out of my chair at the end of the film felt the same as when i had finished my first SAT test.

However, there is one redeeming quality to the film. This is the character Kieran, played by Flight Of The Concords star Jemaine Clement. His character Kieran, the beastly artist that works with Paul Rudd’s wife throughout the film delivers the only laughs worth recognizing.

So this week when you’re thinking of going to see a film, remember, DO NOT see Dinner for Schmucks.

X-Games 2010 Starts Today!

Today marks the first of four days this year that ESPN is completely dedicated to airing the X-Games. With dozens of different events in many extreme sport categories, each day will be nothing short of exciting.

Today, day 1 will focus mostly on Moto X, Skateboarding, and BMX. Our pick for favorite event of the day has got to be the Skateboard Big Air Final. This Big Air event is when competitors skateboard off of a huge ramp and do as many of the best tricks they can while in the air. This competition is definitely one of the favorites overall in the week so make sure you tune in or show up at the Coliseum to watch -it starts at about 3pm.

Another thing to watch out for today at the X-Games is Boom Boom. We will be out in full force promoting and educating the public on Boom Boom. So if you’re planning on coming out at all this week, make sure you get your hands on some Boom. It’s the perfect supplement for both the heat from the sun and the extreme levels of athleticism all around.

We hope to see you all out there, now keep it X-treme!

Summer Vacation

With July winding down and just about two weeks until the beginning of August, right now is the perfect time to plan your last summer trip. Some obvious locations for the summers last hooray include San Diego, Palm Springs, and even Tahoe. But the location that is an absolute must before the summers closing is the Sin City – LAS VEGA$. Whether it is gambling, food, partying, or entertainment, Las Vegas never ceases to impress and delight its visitors.

Despite the through-the-roof desert temperatures this time of year, there is something to be said about the imitation paradise found in every hotels pool-deck. So don’t let the weather phase you, because when you’re not in an artifical paradise, you will certainly be in some grade A air conditioning.

Now figure out your next trip to Vegas and bring some Boom Boom so you can rally all day and night!

Summer Music Madness

Summer is in full swing and we here at Boom Boom think that there’s nothing better than getting up and and going to a summer concert to celebrate the best season of them all. So grab a few friends and some Boom Boom and head out to these shows in LA.

MGMT at the Greek Theater July 16, 18. Always an entertaining show, with mainstream hits and songs that will take you right back to Woodstock.

Ludacris at Club Nokia July 18. Proven to be much more than a Rap phenomenon, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges never fails in starting the party.

Steel Panther at the Key Club July 19. Awesome 80′s cover band who constantly seem to influence the crowd to drink MORE. Better bring your party pants for this show.

Keane at the Greek Theater July 21. A low-key band with amazing sound and talent. This rock band manages to be pretty successful even though they don’t use guitars – keyboards only.

(Many thanks to ShowListLA for these concert dates).

ALSO, don’t forget to vote for your favorite Boom Boom flavor on our poll in the upper right hand corner of the blogs main page.
